Magical Harry Potter Crafts For Kids And Adults You Have To See

There are so many amazing Harry Potter crafts and ideas from all over the web that you can do to bring some magic into your life. I’m probably leaving out a few good ones, but here are some of my favorites. A few years ago my daughter attended a school play of Harry Potter. I volunteered to make a number of props and decorations for the set, including a DIY golden candle. It’s an easy home craft. I know other Harry Potter fans will want to have their own Golden Snitch for their room or as decoration for a birthday party.

If you’re planning a party, be sure to check out my Harry Potter Birthday Party. It’s full of ideas for decorations, favors, activities, crafts, and more.

The Golden Snitch is such an integral part of the Harry Potter series that every Harry Potter fan needs one of their own. After doing a few for a school play, I made my daughter’s own room.

*A note about the paints used, they don’t seem to make the branded paint I used for this craft anymore. JoAnn’s and Michael’s have tons of acrylic paint options, just make sure you get a metallic that has the right shade of gold for you. (I like Martha Steward and Deco Art.) I applied a thin layer of glitter paint over the metallic paint to give it extra sparkle, but that’s an optional step.

Paint the foam ball with gold metallic paint. When it’s mostly dry, apply a coat of gold glitter paint. Allow to dry completely overnight before installation.

Print a copy of the wings template on vellum paper and cut out the wings. (These are the same wings I used to make the flying keys.) You will need two pairs of wings for each golden snitch. Once you have cut out the wing shape, cut a pair of wings “in half” about 1 cm off center. Fold in that extra ‘tab’, which is what you’ll attach to each side of the snitch.

Hot glue the wing on each side of the golden snitch. While the glue is still warm, drive a simple pin through the wing into the snitch for extra reinforcement.

If you want your golden snitch to “fly”, you can use monofilament thread to hang it so it looks like it’s floating in the air. Add a fan and you have a flying golden snitch. These fun Harry Potter craft projects cover a little bit of everything – papercrafting, sewing, painting and crafting for your cutting machine!
