Easy Sewing Projects For Men

Easy Sewing Projects For Men – Because my husband and father and father-in-law never “wanted” or “wanted” anything. So it’s really hard to figure out what to do with them.

Over the past few years I have turned to handmade gifts for men instead of store bought. I have been surprised at how well it has been received.

Clever Diy Handmade Gifts For Men

My husband is the hardest. I’ve done everything from gifts, to DIY projects to coupon books, even for a whole year of solar ideas.

It was true that he appreciated them all, but none of them really touched him. I decided this year I’d rather make something practical that he could use every day. I made a skirt.

That’s why we’ve come up with a list of practical but sensible guides to the best gifts for men. We hope that your efforts in creating this gift will be enough for him to appreciate that you came out with something worthwhile.

Home accessories for men are not complicated. Something as simple as a small wrist watch can melt even the hardest heart.

Just because he’s a man, doesn’t mean he doesn’t appreciate a simple handmade gift for men. She’ll be thrilled that you took the time to create something special, meaningful, and unique for her. Like many of you, I have a husband and my sons in my life who I love and love to sew. Until a few years ago, I thought my sewing options for them were limited to hemming pants or making T-shirts, and let me tell you, I don’t want to try pants—everything. I challenged myself a few years ago to sew some items for my husband and teenage son. So far I am very happy with the results.

I think a lot of people are afraid of sewing for men, and since Father’s Day is coming up, I thought I’d share some tips that I used when designing gifts for the men in my life. I’ve included links to tutorials for all of these projects, most of which are easy enough that you’ll still have time to do them before Father’s Day.

I’ve found that I can use some of the patterns I made for my girls to sew for people in my life just by changing the fabrics. When sewing for men, I have several fabrics that I like to use:

Attribute Materials: I think these have a natural masculine feel to them as they are often paired with men’s shirts. Most fabrics are easy to sew and can be purchased at many fabric stores. Last year I made my husband an iPad case for his birthday using some gray fleece, you can find the tutorial here.

Canvas: You can buy canvas in many colors at your local fabric store. Sometimes it is called duck cloth. When I’m sewing with burlap or duck cloth, I prefer to wash it first to get a soft sheen. After it came out of the dryer I was immediately reminded of an old ruck scout bag. The soft texture is perfect to use if you are sewing a basket or travel bag. This travel bag is an example of one way to use washed canvas.

Leather Touches: Adding small touches of leather can take a simple project with a professional look. I made the zipper bag below for a friend, but you could easily replace the main fabric with a velor or quilting fabric and you’d have a perfect zipper bag for anyone. My husband likes to use a bag like this to keep phone chargers and cables in when he’s on the go.

Toys or Toys: A few Christmases ago, I made all my kids toys for Christmas. I was disappointed that I hadn’t sewn anything for my husband, so at the last minute I decided to make it into a fleece blanket using a pattern I had made before.

I made the blanket out of polar fleece in a pattern with his favorite college sports team. He opened it on Christmas morning and told me he loved it. I’m not sure if he really likes it because I did it or because it featured his favorite sports team, which is great for football games, but either way I can take it.

New ties and dress shirts: My husband recently donated a lot of ties and dress shirts he no longer liked to a local charity. I pulled a few of them out of the donation bin because I thought they were a great source of fabric. I used ties to make these baggy zipper pouches. The pattern is just a standard zipper pocket, but since I made it out of a recycled tie, it has a more unique design that is more personal.

TIP TWO:  Of course, everyone is different and what they love about each other, so the biggest tip you have is to focus on what the men in your life love . When you design projects for them try to match their style and interests with their favorite colors, hobbies and interests. The iPad case I made for my husband came about because he said he wanted an iPad case with a pocket to store his headphones. Maybe someone in your life has the same need? Or something different.

Most of all, don’t be afraid to try it, you’ll never know he loves it. 30+ Easy Sewing Gifts for Men and Sewing Ideas for Father’s Day Make a gift for birthday for Dad or give him this Father’s favorite gift. Date with these free sewing patterns for men!
