Diy Projects For The Home

Diy Projects For The Home – We’re entering week 5 of quarantine here and I can’t tell you how thankful we are for our farmhouse and this amazing and crazy family. Staying at home is definitely a privilege and something we don’t take for granted… but definitely staying at home means spending 24/7 at our house and staring at all the projects we want to do. If you’re like us, you’re eager to start more home improvement projects than you can count right now. So today I wanted to share 6 quarantine-friendly DIY projects that people at home can totally do. Bonus: They’re all budget-friendly!

I’ve selected six DIY projects that are relatively easy. They range from decor to power-tools types of projects, but except for #6, they’re all entry-level. I mentioned that they’re budget-friendly, but some of these improvements could save you money in the long run (I’m looking at gardening and laundry ventilation). Here are 6 DIYs to tackle while at home during quarantine…

Changing the curtains can completely transform a space. We used inexpensive IKEA curtains in Daphne’s room and pinched them for an updated look. With a little yarn and a needle, we took these $25 curtain panels from good to great! Find the tutorial here.

The paint is amazing. And it will give your kitchen a brand new look in just two days. Our ‘hand-paint’ method requires a brush or roller (no sprayer!) so it’s relatively DIY-friendly and ‘us-at-home’ friendly, although you do need a place to set up the cabinet doors. When you draw them. You can find the tutorial here.

Wedge shelves. Did you notice? We’ve used them in bathrooms, laundry rooms, closets, kitchens, and the list goes on. They’re easy to make, cheap, functional, and add a touch of nostalgia to any space they’re in. You’ll need a special bit for this project, so plan ahead and order it on Amazon before you start. You can find the tutorial here.

The planning part of a garden is free, which is my favorite price. We had four main goals when planning our garden last year, and I think they work for any space. Not everyone has a large space for a garden like this, but whether you want to do a single bed garden or a vertical garden indoors, our planning process can help. You can find it here. And if you want to see more of this space, check out our Garden Reveals & Resources.

There’s something truly satisfying about a part-but-perfectly-functioning, attractive kitchen faucet. We like to think of the kitchen faucet as the centerpiece of the kitchen, and it’s definitely something you use when you’re at home 24/7. So if yours is broken, leaking or poorly designed… fix it already! Garrett’s tutorial can be found here.

I can’t tell you how much I love our laundry air. It has completely changed the way of doing farm house laundry in the best possible way. This means less energy consumption because we use the dryer less and our clothes last longer (at least my jeans, workout clothes and underwear). Seriously, it’s a great addition to a laundry room

Awesome Home Improvement Ideas

If you want to improve the look of your space without spending too much, this is a great option, and it’s easy to do too!

All you need is some paint, brushes, rollers and tape to cover areas you don’t want painted.

Choosing the right type of paint is essential when painting boxes. I highly recommend Benjamin Moore Advanced or Sherwin Williams Urethane to get the job done right.

All you need is some knobs and handles at your local home improvement store (Lowe’s or Home Depot), which come in a variety of shapes and should fit any space.

That feeling when you open your first home? It’s awesome, isn’t it? A great way to make this home feel like yours is by replacing those builder grade hardware pieces with new ones.

Is your old, builder grade tile starting to peel off the wall? Replace it with a new backsplash that will brighten up your space for you and surprise guests when they visit!

All you need is tile, grout, spacers/tiling mats (or newspapers), sealer & a cutting tool like snap and score tile cutter (not expensive, but you can rent one at your local hardware store).

You don’t need to use mastic to glue the tiles—an adhesive tile mat like Musselbound makes the job messy.

Practice on a few tiles first (so you get the hang of it) and you’ll be good to go!

A new coat of paint is just what the doctor ordered! Painting your front door can add instant curb appeal and personality to your home. You can paint your door a vibrant color or stick to something a little more traditional.

You’ll need a few supplies like primer, a ladder or step stool for easy access (depending on how tall your door is), and a quart of exterior-grade paint.

Replacing builder-grade lighting (I’m looking at your poop lights!) is a surefire way to improve the look of your new home. This may seem like a daunting task for a DIY project, but it’s actually quite simple once you take the necessary precautions.

Turn off the lights at the circuit breaker, double check that they are off, and then remove the existing lights. Note how the original light is wired (I like to take a photo) and install the new light the same way.

Improve curb appeal after landscaping by removing overgrown shrubs, planting flowers, and installing a new mailbox. You don’t need any special skills to complete these tasks!

All you need are clippers for trimming the bush (depending on how much work you need to do), shovels for digging up dirt if you’re making beds for plants, a rake and a spade.

A new layer of mulch will add the perfect finishing touch and help protect your new plants and flowers.

It’s one of those things that gets ignored until it’s so bad it can’t be ignored anymore… but this project doesn’t have to be daunting, even if it looks complicated at first glance with various steps.

Use a toothbrush and dish soap to scrub away all the dirt from your grout lines that has been neglected for months or years (depending on how often you clean).

With just one quick trip to Home Depot, this is an easy project anyone can do! All you need is pliers to disconnect the old pipe from your existing head, then thread it into the new one and tighten it firmly with the same pliers and some pipe tape in case of any leaks when you’re done.

It doesn’t take much to make these things look old, dirty, and stained after years of neglect, but don’t worry because this is an easy DIY project.

All you need is a trusty screwdriver from Home Depot or Lowe’s plus some new outlet plates to unscrew the old one and replace it with the new one.

It may seem like only the most creative people can get away with it, but that couldn’t be further from the truth! It takes less time and cost, and again is one of those perfect startup projects that are not intimidating. And think of all the design possibilities!

Most blinds are installed with two metal clips that need to be screwed into the inner frame of your window, while blinds are easy to install. Hang rods high and wide to make your room look bigger.
