United States Renewable Energy Statistics – According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), 79% of the 97 trillion British Thermal Units (BTU) of primary energy consumption in the US in 2021 will be fueled by oil, natural gas and coal. At least in Delaware there is less and less natural gas-based pollution released into the air to generate electricity. Plus, nobody beats Texas.

Eia Offers Two Approaches To Compare Renewable Electricity Generation With Other Sources

In 2020, 40 percent of US electricity (or 617 TWt) came from natural gas. About one-sixth of that national total was made in the Lone Star State. The 10 states that generate the most electricity from natural gas are:

West Virginia, the second most volatile energy source on the list, relies more on coal than any other state (five percent), and five other states get more than half of their electricity from coal: Wyoming (72.8 percent), Missouri (63 percent). . ), Kentucky (62%), Utah (55.4%) and North Dakota (52.2%).
