Are Oil And Gas Companies Serious About The Renewable Energy Transition? Here’s What The Evidence Says.

Mike and Mark open half of the podcast by talking about the potential of renewable energy and electricity to reduce electricity costs in more remote areas. As Mark noted, Hawaii, for example, could see a large drop in prices due to increased reliance on renewable energy and less reliance on fossil fuels, which are far from being phased out by the state. Both experts also explored how the renewable energy grid provides reliability and many other benefits, and, as Mark explained, it will be much cheaper than the energy sources we have here. The future is even more conservative.

Mike and Mark then talked about other sources of energy, including hydro and storage and nuclear. They concluded that nuclear weapons are not something that should be included in future plans because current costs are not calculated and the time frame for building power plants does not match the urgent need to transition to cleaner energy.

Mike and Mark share their thoughts on what has changed in the industry over the past decade. From an engineering and global perspective, Mark has observed the reduction in the cost of renewables, the development and improvement of electric vehicles, and advances in battery storage. He was very happy to see the passion behind the movement to change the world to 100% renewable energy sources.

The two closed the session by briefly exchanging views on the Green New Deal and the nature of the transition to renewable energy. As Marcus notes, even conservative politicians are beginning to embrace renewable energy because it has been shown to be the best option.
