AdvertisementPaper Towel Holder Under Sink – Now that our kitchen budget is ready, it’s time to decorate it! I’ve been looking for a new paper towel holder, but haven’t had any luck finding one that fits the style of our modern country culture.
Or things were stainless steel and sleek modern lines. Or they were too rustic with lots of rustic and chicken. Our kitchen called for something between the two.

So after a lot of research, I decided I needed to make a paper towel holder for my modern farmhouse.

When I saw that this month’s theme in the Craft Lighting Challenge was wood, I knew I had to join in on the fun! If you’re new to Craft Lifting, it’s a fun week where a bunch of bloggers share 15-minute tutorials on the topic.
When I finally decided to make a paper towel for my cottage, I knew it would be the perfect 15 minute wood craft project!
Instead of going for a standard vertical paper towel holder, I decided to go crazy and go horizontal! And since the paper towels aren’t very tall when horizontal, I had to add a little shelf on top.

I love the little shelf on the country paper towel holder. It’s a perfect place to put hand soap. Also, I put a plate on it to hold the nail scrubber (it’s from a gardener, and that takes some work).
Now it’s just where I find it, but without adding clutter, so it sits so easily in the kitchen.
The sides are easily cut from wood with a paper towel holder, while the saw blade looks more rustic. Sometimes you can change the sides of the shelf (or similar), it just adds to the party.
I did the same thing with our DIY iron stand with storage ironing board and I love it. And jigsaws are a very inexpensive, easy-to-use power tool. With a little practice, you’ll be cutting the edges of the ornament!

I saw our new cottage owner’s paper towel as a pair of slightly warmed, light-colored contemporary kitchens that I placed over the sink. This wood color looks so perfect next to the white cabinets and backsplash.

If you want to use the pattern I made for the sides of the paper towel holder with the shelf, print the pattern below. Then cut it and thus tighten the line. Or we’ll give you a free quote like this one!
Roll a paper towel to size. I decided I wanted my country paper towel holder to be just 1/2″ larger, so I cut the roll to cut the 1×4 and 1×2 to 11 1/2″ long

If you want to make some room to make it easier to add a new roll, leave them at 12 inches long.
Measure 9″ from the bottom of the side piece and mark the line. This will be the top shelf.
The line is mounted to a 1×4 shelf so that the top of the line is 9 inches. Attach the sides with wood glue and screws. Pull the 1×2 board up so that the flush is on the bottom back and secure with wood glue and screws.
Pocket holes should be hidden on the back or bottom of the boards when glued.

Attach the other one in the same way. Mark the center of the circle (from the template) with a paper towel holder on each side of the city. The hole is larger than the screw on the back of the decorated ball.
So cut the dowel about 1/8″ shorter than the length of your shelf. Drill holes in each header the same size as the ball bearing screw.
Sand, stain and seal the wood with a paper towel backing. Then find yourself. Place the paper towels over the taco.
Place a decorative ball through the hole on one side of the paper towel holder and line up the dowel hole with it. Thread the knot into the dowel. Then repeat on the other side.
