Diy Ideas For A Small Bathroom

Diy Ideas For A Small Bathroom – We just finished our DIY industrial bathroom vanity in our small bathroom and it is beautiful! I’ll show you before and after photos along with how you can achieve your own bathroom remodeling success. I’ll also share the cost of bathroom renovations and how to stay on budget and do it all yourself!

This small bathroom serves as a bathroom that our children use and our guests use. That means it needs to do double duty in being ready for guests and being able to withstand the wear and tear of children underneath. We kept all this in mind when we were planning it. It IS possible to have a beautiful and child-friendly design.

Diy Ideas For A Small Bathroom

For this upgrade, I chose an industrial farmhouse style design with black metal, wood and bright white. It’s a very small bathroom and has no natural light sources so I wanted to focus on bringing a light and bright color scheme into the room. I’ll show you how we transformed this tiny bathroom from feeling like a dark cave to feeling bright and airy!

Ideas: Add Style To A Small Bathroom

See here before and after photos of our small bathroom design. You can see there was a big change! Since this bathroom has no windows there was very little light and it seemed small, dark and cave-like. Since we took a lot of white and light colors for the renovation, it now feels bright, airy and open. See for yourself!

Now that you’ve seen the before and after transformation, let’s show you how we did it! This was a simple fix that made a HUGE impact on the overall look and feel of the room. Whether you’re doing a DIY bathroom remodel for your own enjoyment or to increase your home’s resale value, bathrooms and kitchens sell homes! You will see a return to this project.

Start by painting the walls and change the trim. We chose Pearly Gray from Dutch Boy paint for the walls and replaced the wood paneling with white trim. We painted the Dutch Boy trim in their bright white color.

We replaced the existing linoleum floor with this beautiful honey white tile. We had to tear down the floor to do this and I will be sharing how we did it step by step in another post that I will link here when I post it.

Bathroom Renovation Ideas: Before & After

My bathroom door welcomes you with a wire powder room sign above it. Visitors will not have to wonder if they are entering the right door when it is closed thanks to this beautiful sign! The black wire matches the rest of the design as well.

I scored this bathroom vanity from Lowe’s on clearance for only $52! Check out this steal for your small bathroom design too.

For the vanity mirror and medicine cabinet, I used pre-made mirrors and built a farmhouse style frame around them. Find step-by-step instructions for this DIY farmhouse style vanity mirror here.

This light fixture is definitely my favorite feature! I love this light and it gives off so much bright light to highlight the white palette and make this room so airy and bright.

Small Bathroom Storage & Design Ideas

I got this vintage style black lamp from Amazon for a steal. It is well made and looks more expensive than it is. Instead of using Edison bulbs, I used regular LED bulbs to get clear and bright light.

I also added an old black hook to the kid’s height near the bath so the kids can easily grab their towels from the shower. If you don’t have kids you can raise yours higher, but for kids, this height works great! I can’t tell you how many times my kids scream “Mommy I need my diaper!”. Not anymore!

I had a blank wall that needed some love so I found these adorable pictures from Etsy. One reads “Wash your hands you filthy beast” which is an homage to my kids’ love of the movie Home Alone! Of course, it’s also a good reminder to wash their hands!

Another sign is the reminder to “Hang up your towel” because every single time I enter the bathroom this towel is placed in the vanity! It worries me because the kids know how to close it, they just don’t.

I ordered both prints from Etsy ( here and here ) and then ordered them as poster prints from Walmart image. Then I put them in these black frames from Walmart.

I added this vintage Soap and Water sign to the top of these metal switch plate covers. I also used this shower curtain that I’m in love with and these shower curtain hooks and shower curtain fabric. We also replaced the crappy, white plastic bathroom rod with this brushed brass shower curtain rod that made a huge difference.

We also created an industrial pipe toilet paper holder. You can make this (tutorial coming soon) or you can buy it on Amazon! I also added sticky pads to the bottom so they don’t scratch the floor!

My kids are still young and can’t quite reach the faucet to wash their hands so I bought this cute rustic stool to add to the bathroom and I just love it! It is strong and holds their weight perfectly. It just gives them the boost they need to reach the faucet as well.

I took this galvanized bucket for the trash can. It easily fits a grocery bag inside which makes it the perfect garden waste bin.

In the shower, I used Amri’s metal baskets and soap holder to prepare shampoo, body wash and soap for the children. They work great and I have them in my shower too. I like not having bottles full of the rims of the tub. In this way, the bottle and the soap dry as well since the basket has an opening in it.

To complete the vanity I added this lamp above it which is just amazing! It is well made and looks beautiful on the field glass.

Next to the sink, I added this enamel soap dish to hold the bar soap as well as a glass jar to hold cotton swabs. We added a vintage hook near the vanity as well, to hold a handkerchief. The hook works perfectly for towels. They are easy to hang up and look great too!

We Built A Small Bathroom Wet Room From Scratch!

We made our own industrial style shelving for an affordable price! I will have a full tutorial coming soon detailing how we made these DIY bathroom shelves! I’ll link it here once it’s live. Be sure to sign up for the Must Have Mom email list so you don’t miss it!

On my rustic shelves, I added enamel jars from Ikea with this fun sign that says, “You never know what you have until it’s gone, for example toilet paper”. I also have a Magnolia cloche I got on clearance that has a natural sponge in it.

On the next shelf, I added a cute fabric cover that allows me to have tissues readily available without looking messy. Add to that a couple of apothecary jars from Target and an Ikea metal bucket and plant, along with some PooPourri spray and you have a rustic farmhouse decor collection that looks amazing and works too!

All in all, I spent some time before the small bathroom remodeling project gathering supplies and looking at deals. I searched for clearance results and scored a lot on my vanity find and all my visions came together better than I could have imagined! I love the results and it was worth the effort and cost.
