Coding Classes For 11 Year Olds

Coding Classes For 11 Year Olds – The Hour of Code is a global movement involving students in 180 different countries. Hour of Code takes place every year as part of Computer Science Education Week.

Computer Science Education Week 2022 will take place from December 5th to 11th, but you can host Class of Code year-round. The purpose of “Hour of Code” is to get students to learn computer science for one hour.

Coding Classes For 11 Year Olds

A variety of fun and completely free activities are available to students. The Code Lesson is all about showing kids that anyone can code!

Hour Of Code On Khan Academy

If you’re looking for ways to celebrate the Hour of Code this year, we’ve got you covered! We’ve compiled a list of some of the best code activities currently available on the net. These unique and engaging games are perfect for your students to play while learning beginner coder skills like programming, loops, and the art of debugging.

If you would like to purchase a lesson in code curriculum to use in your classroom, check out our lesson in code worksheets here.

Take a journey through the world of Minecraft for one hour of coding. Students will enjoy playing the game with familiar characters and learning skills in a fun and engaging environment.

Code.org offers three Minecraft activities that help teach students the principles of coding. These three modules include Minecraft Designer, Minecraft Adventurer, and Hero’s Journey. Each activity consists of a series of challenges that challenge students to use block coding to program their Minecraft characters. By participating in these mini-challenges, students will learn important coding concepts such as loops, variables, and functions.

Python X Competition Support Online Training Course

In this activity, kids will get hands-on coding experience in the world of Minecraft. Program the chicken to keep randomly moving through the maze or guide Steve on a journey through the world of Minecraft. There are lots of fun challenges that kids will love.

Coding doesn’t require a computer! Kids can learn to code with something as simple as a deck of cards. This unplugged coding activity with a set of cards is perfect for a kindergarten or elementary classroom. You won’t need a computer lab and kids will still learn some basic coding concepts.

In this activity, you will make a grid by placing cards face down. Now it’s time to add some toys to act as obstacles in this card maze. The objective of the activity is to guide the “toy robot” from start to finish while avoiding obstacles. Students will be instructed just like a computer with specific and detailed commands. For an added challenge, students will provide instructions in advance. Make a mistake? No problem, kids will practice the art of debugging, the critical thinking skill that makes learning to code so rewarding.

CodeSpark Academy teaches young learners how to code adorable Foos characters to solve puzzles that teach concepts like sequencing and loops. Little coders will be challenged to lead their characters through some obstacles of their choosing

Coding With Kids

Codespark has developed a popular app to teach kids to code at Codespark Academy. This app offers a membership subscription, but for educators, Code Resource Class Code Activity Class is free! Also, you can get a 30-day free trial from this link.

What I love about CodeSpark is that they provide their app to previous readers. You don’t need to be able to read to use the app, and it’s really intuitive for kids (and adults). It’s great for younger people because coding concepts can be developed even before reading.

Create your own Google logo and bring it to life with code. Make Google letters dance, tell a story or create a game. In this activity, students will use a popular programming language designed for children called Scratch. Scratch was created by MIT, and its blocky interface is easy for beginners to understand.

Students will be able to modify the Google logo and program each letter with different animations and special effects to create their own unique logo. Students can unleash their creativity and also learn the basics of coding with this simple activity that is perfect for beginners.

Best Paid & Free Coding Websites For Kids

Google has lots of great resources for teachers doing this in their classrooms. They have an extensive lesson plan as well as additional materials such as student certificates to be issued upon completion of the assignment.

Another coding activity that is perfect for the kindergarten classroom involves learning to code with Hotwheels. Simply spread the grid on the floor using painter’s tape or road tape for more fun. Cut red construction paper to fill the grid with “hot lava”. Now the challenge is to get your Hotwheels car from start to finish without running into hot lava. Students must provide instructions for their Hotwheels car in “code talk”. Bonus points if they can provide all the instructions in advance.

Full details of this activity can be found here. We’ve also included an additional set of printable coding cards to use in the classroom.

Another great cordless coding activity that’s super fun for kids! In this activity, an 8×8 grid is drawn on the ground with chalk. Some squares are filled and are water jet squares. Children must direct their “robots” (aka teachers or parents) to the water jet areas. If they can give the ‘coding’ instructions to get the robots to the water cannon area, they get to shoot their teachers or parents with water guns!

What Is Coding For Kids?

This activity is so much fun! Children love being able to splash water on their friends and family. It’s a great way to make coding fun! This simple activity that teaches kids all about algorithms, sequencing, and debugging doesn’t require computer screens.

Play That Tune uses a block language to solve musical puzzles by writing code to match tunes played on a piano keyboard. Solving puzzles requires sequencing, selection and repetition algorithms.

Students must match the melody on the keyboard using their block coding skills. This is a great introduction to block coding, which is commonly used in beginner programming languages like Scratch.

Level: Beginner to advanced coders. After level 9, users can create their own ringtone and download it as an app for Android. Students can also modify the app by following the link to the App Inventor source code.

Best Coding Courses Online

Learn to program droids and create your own Star Wars game in a galaxy far, far away. This Star Wars game is both fun and teaches skills unlike any other game on this list.

This Code.org activity has two levels. Beginners can use a block-based programming language, and more experienced coders can try their hand at Javascript.

Students will work through levels and challenges to guide their character BB-8 through various tasks. This game is similar to some disconnected coding activities, but with the added element of on-screen code. Star Wars fans will love this game!

Use drag and drop to create your own Flappy Bird game and customize it to look different (Flappy Shark, Flappy Santa, etc.). Students will enjoy learning how to program their own video game.

Apl (programming Language)

What I love about this activity is that the game itself is also a lot of fun! During each step of coding the flappy video game, students will also have fun playing the game they created. Although flappy bird looks simple, the game gets complicated quickly! Students will try to earn points by crossing various obstacles and try to avoid ending the game early.

Switch & Glitch lets your kids program adorable robots and use them to help save the day. This activity teaches kids as young as three the basics of programming, such as algorithms and loops, in a fun superhero adventure.

In the game, students will have to program their robots to complete tasks. Students will be instructed in advance using visual coding blocks. A very nice feature of this program is that teachers will be able to log into their classroom center and see the progress of their students.

In The Amazing World of Gumball episode “The Signal”, a glitch affects the relationship between the characters. In this activity, continue the story by creating your own glitch and imagining how Gumball and his friends would react to it.

Coding Bootcamps For High School Students

Kids will get a chance to try their hand at a great programming language for beginners. This activity allows children to show their creativity by programming their characters in their own animated story.

Collect all the stars on Box Island. Box Island is a mobile coding game that takes kids on an exciting adventure on a magical island. Using block maps, students will guide their boxes through small mazes. Students will have to pre-select majors and complete the program
