The floor in this kitchen remodeling project is also very nice. It is hand-scraped hickory lumber in three different widths.

This project started out as just a kitchen remodeling project and by the time we were done it covered the entire first floor and a large portion of the second floor. We wanted a country farmhouse look. They made it very easy for us to see and choose our options. The guys from Pinnacle Homes have been here for five months. They cleaned every day and there was no mess when we left. The group were very professional and people with a very good heart. Today’s trend is open concept – the kitchen and living space are open to each other – so you can entertain your family or friends. kitchen Entertaining is very important to many people, and a small, cramped kitchen makes this priority difficult, if not impossible.

Our clients in Haysville, KS, a neighborhood in Wichita, were frustrated with the cramped space in their existing kitchen. They wanted the kitchen remodeling project to use an open concept. The existing golden oak cabinets and sectional cabinets were old and wanted a new look.

The first thing we did was remove the cabinetry and tear down the wall separating the dining room and kitchen. This immediately gave the space a very open feel.

These few photos show a very large island in the middle of the room. The client previously had a table in the kitchen where they would have less formal meals. We removed this table and made room for an island that serves multiple purposes – storage on both sides of the island, a dining area, food prep space, and space for a cooktop.

The next two photos show a wall oven with a microwave above the oven. It is a good idea to place the microwave oven in a cabinet to free up space on the worktop. We were also able to provide them with a prep area to the right of the oven and microwave.

The picture below shows the large amount of space on the side of the kitchen sink. As you can see, this kitchen remodel created more usable storage and work space than the previous kitchen.

This picture shows another project we tackled when we remodeled the kitchen. We removed the “pad” next to the staircase and installed brand new posts and wrought iron posts. This continued to help the open concept our client was trying to achieve.

These pictures also show the updated floor. We removed the existing floor, installed a new underlayment and installed groutable luxury vinyl tile. This tile looks just like the ceramic or porcelain tile we’re used to seeing in Wichita, KS, but the installation labor costs are lower than traditional ceramic tile, and it’s softer and warmer on the feet. To complete the authentic look, we applied a special grout between the tiles.
