In fact, since 2010, the cost of solar energy has fallen by 80% and wind energy by 40%, both options have become cheaper than coal.

You can see examples of this in geysers, where steam, which is heat generated from the core of the earth, is released into the air. This heat is used to generate geothermal energy.
One of the disadvantages of geothermal energy is the price – it cannot yet compete with cheap renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy. It is very expensive to create geothermal energy in plants and dig deep to reach the hottest part of the earth.
You can imagine water power by imagining the old water wheels that were used to mill flour. But these types of hydroelectric power are much larger and heavier.
Think of the Hoover Dam in Nevada: hydropower working through the power of the water rushing through the power plant and the turbines to generate power.
Hydroelectric construction can displace local human populations, disrupt migratory patterns of fish populations, and exacerbate drought by holding more water in rivers to accommodate less dormant populations.
But when done in an environmentally friendly and well-managed way, hydropower is the best source of energy. If there is no drought, water always flows and is completely renewed.
Bioenergy is a general term for energy sources derived from plant material. For example, corn can be used to produce ethanol, a type of biofuel that is then used to fuel cars or airplanes.
Another use of bioenergy is wood pellets, also called energy or energy from organic matter. Wood pellets are obtained from trees, which are then burned with plant power. Because food is made from plants, it is technically renewable because plants can renew and grow every year.
Bioenergy can become unsustainable if trees are felled too quickly before they can regenerate. Biomass is based on the assumption that plants grown for energy conversion also remove the carbon they emit into the atmosphere when burned.
To ensure the sustainability of this process, more trees need to be planted than cut down, so that CO2 is removed faster than it is released.
