Description Drexel “Venetian Heritage” bedroom set, mid-20th century, with dresser, tall dresser, linen chest and a pair of nightstands. (JKID8201/5) Biography: Mary “Maura” Dillon Pichetto died in 2013. A reserve delegate to the 1976 Republican National Convention, Pichetto was the bride of the legendary Stephen Pichetto, art conservator of the Kress Collection. Metropolitan Museum of Art and National Gallery. He also served as art consultant and conservator for Paul Mellon’s private collection. Thanks to this connection, Ms. Pichetto began working for Mr. Mellon in an administrative capacity and maintained an intimate personal relationship with Paul and Bunny. A 1970s Dorothy Draper style campaign dresser by respected US furniture manufacturer Drexel Heritage. Old growth flax flared walnuts from top to bottom. Brass pull hardware is associated with British traditional and oriental designs. This dresser offers ample yet efficient drawer storage. Drawers open effortlessly on heavy metal slides. No composite or MDF is used anywhere in this campaign dresser. Drexel used a combination of solid wood interior, solid walnut and walnut veneer.

We bought it from a time capsule mansion from its original owners and almost everything in the house was owned by Drexel Heritage. In fact, many pieces are monogrammed with their owners’ names on brass plates. It was purchased in the 1970s and has been kept in the same house to this day. Every piece is pampered and this dresser was no exception. Clean and detailed inside and out.
