Since 2015, all cotton in products is recycled or comes from more sustainable sources*. This means that we only grow cotton using sustainable farming practices that reduce the use of fertilizers, pesticides and water, improve working conditions and income for farmers, and benefit ecosystem health and biodiversity conservation. We have established a system that allows us to trace all of our cotton and ensure that the final product comes from certified and approved sources. *Cotton from more sustainable sources is committed to the following schemes: Better Cotton (as defined by BCI, including its equivalence in different geographies), cotton from farmers working towards the BCI Standard (TBC).
Every year, about 0.5 percent of all the cotton grown in the world is used. This may not sound like much, but the number is big enough to drive change in the industry. For many years, we have been working with partners and stakeholders around the world to transform conventional large-scale cotton farming and set social and environmental standards for cotton production. As an example, we helped establish the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), which runs the world’s largest cotton sustainability program. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment in which it grows, and better for the future of the industry. Today, more than 110,000 farmers have adopted more sustainable farming practices within the projects.
All products are manufactured in accordance with the IWAY standard, our Supplier Code of Conduct. It sets out the minimum environmental and social standards expected of our suppliers, including compliance with local laws. We do not accept any form of forced labor, child labor or treatment that violates our supply chain requirements. Our cotton teams around the world ensure that all cotton used in products meets compliance requirements in our supply chain. By having teams on the ground in areas where it was previously difficult to work responsibly, we are able to challenge traditional ways of working and improve the industry. When we discover that we are operating in places where we cannot guarantee that our requirements will be met, we follow up on the ground and drive change.
