On the 6th attempt, the iPhone will power off for 1 minute. The 7th attempt locks you out of the disabled iPhone for 5 minutes, the 8th attempt locks you out for 15 minutes, and the 10th attempt locks you out for 60 minutes. But if you try number 10 and don’t enter the correct code, you’ll get a message that your iPhone is locked. Unless, of course, you haven’t turned off your iPhone or iPad after trying 10 passcodes.
