How To Convert Adobe Pdf To Jpg – How to convert high resolution PDF file to JPG with smaller file size? Shows different solutions to convert PDF to JPG with or without Adobe Acrobat Pro, computer capabilities, and useful online tools.
You may be experiencing the following problems: You have a PDF document and you want to insert its content as a thumbnail on your website or display it on your smartphone. Instead of uploading a high-resolution PDF, you should use a smaller file format such as JPG (JPEG) to reduce website loading time. Shows you how to convert PDF to JPG.
The free Adobe Reader is installed on almost every computer. You can’t export PDF directly to JPG, but you can get it with a little detour. “Clipboard” or “screenshot” are the magic words in this context.
Here’s how. Choose Edit → Take Snapshot. The mouse pointer then turns into a crosshair that you can use to drag a rectangle around the area you want to copy. When you release the mouse button, the area inside the rectangle is automatically colored and copied to the clipboard. You can print the selected area directly or edit it in another program.
To print, open the context menu and click Print. If you want to use more screenshots or convert them to JPG, use another program such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or Microsoft Word.
This example converts PDF to JPG using Photoshop. Create a new file in your image editing program and select the clipboard from the presets. This instructs Photoshop to automatically use the clipboard size at 72 dpi. If you need a high resolution JPG, you need to adjust the resolution to 300dpi. To insert the data into a new file, click Paste or press Ctrl+V. Then save the file in JPEG or JPEG 2000 format and voila! I have your JPG.
JPG vs. JPEG 2000: JPG is a popular image format. Data is subsampled to achieve a high degree of compatibility. Images in JPEG 2000 format have a higher compression ratio, but are supported by some programs, so this format is used less often.
You can also change screenshot settings in Adobe Acrobat Reader. A standard resolution of 72 dpi often provides insufficient quality, especially when working with image data as well as text. If you need a higher resolution, go to the General category in the Adobe Acrobat Reader preferences, select Use fixed resolution for snapshot widget images, and select the required resolution (e.g. 300 dpi).
Important: When pasting screenshots into Photoshop, make sure you set the resolution of the new file to 300 dpi. Otherwise, Photoshop’s default (usually 72 dpi) will be downsampled again.
Adobe Acrobat Reader predefined values are preserved when inserting screenshots into Word or InDesign. However, when converting to JPG, you can change the resolution back or ideally reduce it.
If the full version of Adobe Acrobat is installed on your computer, you can convert directly to JPEG format in seconds without bypassing the clipboard and additional applications. Another advantage is that you can customize the options for exporting PDF to JPG.
To do this, open the PDF and click File → Export to… → Image → JPEG or JPEG2000. Alternatively, click Tools → Export PDF. Click Image in the file type list and enable JPEG or JPEG 2000. You can configure conversion settings by clicking the gear icon next to the selected file type. If you used the first method via the menu, you will find the same settings under Settings in the Export dialog.
When saving a JPG, you can specify file settings, color control, and conversion in the Settings dialog box.
You can define compression settings in grayscale or color. The lower the quality, the smaller the file size. Choices under Format affect web display only. Select Baseline to display the image when it is fully downloaded. This is the right choice in most cases.
Color management allows you to specify settings when working with ICC color profiles. If you export a JPEG using the Export All Images command, the display of the image may differ from PDF. This may be because the profile is included in the PDF but not in the individual image data you export.
You can define the color space and resolution in the transformation. Select Color Space: Grayscale to convert image data to grayscale. Resolution allows you to set the quality and size of the JPG. IMPORTANT: Resolutions are recorded here in pixels per centimeter, which is a rather unusual case.
It’s simple to just extract images from a PDF and export them in JPEG format. Click Tools → Export PDF → Images and enable the Export All Images checkbox. This command does not convert the pages in the PDF to JPG, only the images in the PDF.
Need just one image? This is also a problem if there is a full version. Using the text and image selection tools, select the image in question and select Edit Image from the context menu. The image opens in a designated image editing tool such as Adobe Photoshop. Now save it as a JPEG. complete!
Did you know? In the Edit Content category under Image Editor, you can specify the default image editor used to open images in Adobe Acrobat’s Preferences dialog box.
If you don’t like using Adobe, but still need PDF pages in JPEG, you can use the system’s on-board screenshot feature or an external tool like Snagit, Snipping Tool Plus or Greenshot. Settings for resolution and other options are usually limited and depend on the tool used to take the screenshot.
Open the PDF document of your choice and press the print key on your keyboard to capture the content full screen. Press Print + Alt to take a picture of the active window in Windows. Windows automatically saves screenshots to the clipboard and lets you copy them to other programs via Ctrl+V. Programs like Snagit work in a similar way. You can also save screenshots directly as JPG.
Use the shortcut Shift+Cmd+4 to take a picture of a specific area with your Mac. Press Shift+Cmd+3 to shoot full screen content.
Next, open a preview application on your Mac’s desktop. Programs usually recognize the data on the clipboard automatically. Click File → New from the Clipboard or press Cmd+N to immediately import a new file with screenshots into Acrobat. You can also open other screenshots by clicking Open. Save the screenshot by clicking Export and choosing to save the JPEG or JPEG 2000 to a location of your choice.
You can also work with external web conversion tools. Free converters such as LightPDF or PDFtoimage all take a similar approach. The user selects the desired command on the provider’s website (in this case, converting PDF to JPEG). Afterwards, upload the PDF to the website and re-import the JPEG file. automatically or after download.
It’s worth comparing providers as most don’t offer many setup options. Also, some exported JPGs vary significantly in quality and resolution. So, choose a tool based on how you plan to use the image. We took a closer look at some equipment.
To work with lightPDF, go to the homepage and click on the PDF to JPG icon. In the next window, click on the plus sign to select the file and choose the PDF you want to convert. Once the file is uploaded, the conversion will start automatically. Then click the download arrow to start downloading a new JPEG to your computer. As with many online services, there is no possibility to affect the conversion process. For example, lightPDF will be converted to 100dpi resolution. In general, you can convert several PDFs at once.
The results of the online provider Convertio are similar. This tool can access your files directly from Dropbox or Google Drive. Upload the PDF to the Convertio server, select the format you want to convert, and click Convert. Apart from JPG, you can choose other image formats such as svg, GIF or PSD. Click on Download to transfer the new JPEG to your computer. Convertio does not have an installation option. At 200 dpi, the resolution is twice that of LightPDF. So you get much better quality and much more data.
Even more differences emerge when comparing the two tools with a third provider. The Online2pdf platform looks a bit dated, but it does the job nicely and offers some advantages over LightPDF and Convertio. After uploading the file, you can also use the converter to select the desired destination format. You can also rotate, split, or unlock files. Before the service converts PDF to JPG, you can click Compress to adjust quality, resolution and color mode. After downloading, I check the file size and quality and I’m happy with both. The file size is smaller than Convertio and the quality is better.
IlovePDF is converted to 150dpi. Smallpdf offers the possibility to convert PDF to JPG at 300dpi and convert entire pages or images only to PDF to JPEG. Users can also create download links for files and send them to recipients. Smallpdf also states that data is deleted from the server after one run.
