Here’s how to change a bathroom light fixture:
1. Gather your tools
Before starting the project, you’ll want to make sure you have the necessary tools on hand. This includes a screwdriver, wire nuts, electrical tape and pliers. It’s also important that you turn off the electricity at your circuit breaker or fuse box before starting any electrical work.
2. Remove the old fixture
Once you’ve turned off the power source, remove any screws or bolts holding the old fixture in place using a screwdriver or pliers. Gently pull down on the fixture to remove it from its mount.
3. Disconnect wiring
Locate where the wires are connected between the fixture and electrical box. Use pliers to gently loosen any wire nuts holding them together and disconnect them from each other.
4. Prepare new fixture
Remove any packaging from your new fixture and read over instructions carefully before installing it. Most fixtures will have mounting hardware included and possibly mounting instructions specific to that model of light.
5. Install new fixture
Once all hardware is installed as instructed for your new light, connect wires correctly by twisting together matching color-coded wires (white with white, black with black). If there is also an additional bare copper wire coming from both boxes connect these two together as well using another wire nut cap designed for this purpose.
6.Test it out!
Turn on power again at circuit breaker or fuse box and test out your new bathroom light! This will ensure everything is installed properly and safely.
