We expect the 2020 Honda Civic to go on sale by the end of the 2019 calendar year. As of October 2019, Honda Motor updated their website to show the 2020 Honda instead of the 2019 model. This confirms that the 2020 Civic will be available at our local Honda dealers shortly after this update. The 2020 Honda Civic is available now at the Phil Long Honda store in Glenwood Springs.

A generation Civic, so don’t expect too many cosmetic changes from the 2020 Honda Civic. We expect the 2020 Honda Civic to be priced close to the 2019 model. Pricing for the new Civic starts at $19,750 for the sedan, $20,950 for the coupe and $21,650 for the hatchback.

Honda Civic Type R Doesn’t Fix What Isn’t Broken

Based on the same engine choices as the 2019 model, it’s easy to estimate fuel consumption for the 2020 Honda Civic. Fuel economy for the 2020 Honda Civic is 30 mpg city / 38 mpg with 174-hp. Turbocharged engine and automatic transmission. Conversely, the base engine with the CVT makes 25 mpg city/36 mpg highway. The Civic Coupe’s mpg is higher than the sedan’s standard 30 city/38 highway, while the Civic Hatchback hits 31 city/40 mpg, the best base-level fuel economy the 2020 Civic offers.

Expect the 2020 Honda Civic to have the same interior as the 2019 model. This means that all three body styles can accommodate 5 people, while the Type R can accommodate 4 people. Most sedan models have 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space. The coupe is 12 cubic feet, while the hatchback is 22.6 or 25.7 cubic feet. You get automatic climate control, a 4-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, a 5-inch radio touchscreen and a rear-view camera. You can choose to upgrade to a sunroof, dual climate control, sensor key input, auto start, remote start, navigation system, wireless device charging, 8-10 speaker sound system, more USB charging ports, larger 7″ screen radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and XM Satellite Radio.

All told, the 2020 Honda Civic will be available in four- or five-door trim levels as a sedan, coupe or hatchback. If they’re in line with the 2019 Civic, we’ll have the following trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring. In addition to these configurations, the 2020 Honda Civic Si (coupe) and 2020 Honda Civic Type R (van) will be offered as high-performance options.

All new Civic models now come with the Honda Sensing Active Safety Package. First introduced on 2018 Honda models, Honda Sensing will now be a standard feature from 2022. Other standard features include cloth seats, a four-speaker stereo system, automatic climate control, Bluetooth, USB ports, and a 5-inch audio display. Plus a multi-angle rear camera.

The price of the coupe model has risen slightly, but everything else is pretty much the same as the Honda Civic sedan.

The 2020 Honda Civic is powered by a 158-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder. It’s paired to a six-speed manual transmission. There’s also an optional 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 174 horsepower and is mated to a CVT. Some hatchback models upgrade it to 180 horsepower. If you’re looking for maximum performance, you’ll be more interested in a Civic Si or Type R.

Standard exterior features on the 2020 Honda Civic include LED taillights, LED daytime running lights, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Continuing the redesign for 2016, the 2020 Civic will feature clear exterior lines that complement a more aggressive design to stand out from the crowd (even from older Civics). The new Civic 2020 will retain its signature C-shaped taillight design and elegant appearance. There are also many body colors (options vary by body type). Available in 8 colours: Crystal Black Pearl, Cosmic Blue Metallic, Aegean Blue Metallic, Rally Red, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Lava Pearl.
