First published 1982. Twice during the 1970s -- the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973-74 and the tight oil market of 1978-79 associated with the political upheaval in Iran -- the U.S. economy experienced severe shocks as a result of massive price increases for imported oil. By 1980 the price for imported crude oil had increased to nearly twenty times the price in 1970. This book seeks to provide a basis for determining the macroeconomic effects of solar energy investments over the 1980 to 2000 time period. It structures its analysis in a multidimensional form, specifying variations in • conventional energy costs; • solar market penetration; • solar technology costs.

An oil & gas industry expert breaks down America’s energy situation and how Americans can get involved to help develop an energy plan. It’s time for an energy revolution! Gasoline prices have been rising, and oil supply disruptions are in question. This is old news, yet nothing has been done to change it. That is because it takes people like you stepping up and getting involved, and Mark A. Stansberry is here to show you how. In his latest book, America Needs America’s Energy, Stansberry offers a frank discussion of the issues at hand, as well as realistic, achievable solutions. America cannot move forward without your involvement and your commitment to develop an energy plan. Presented in direct, no-nonsense language and containing a glossary, sample forms, and other resources on things you need to know about America’s energy situation, America Needs America’s Energy is both a great go-to guide for learning about energy solutions and a wonderful launchpad for how to move forward together in creating the People’s Energy Plan. Praise for Mark A. Stansberry and America Needs America’s Energy “Through his many years of experience, Mark Stansberry successfully challenges us toward developing a comprehensive American energy plan.” —Bill Anoatubby, Governor, the Chickasaw Nation “As Mark states, “The time has come for all of us, the people, to take control of our energy future here in America.” He and I have discussed the importance of moving inevitably toward a hydrogen economy. I believe, after reviewing all the energy options presented in his book, it should move us closer to achieving that possibility. The future is now for us and our children. We cannot wait any longer.” —Woodrow W. Clark II, MA, PhD; Qualitative economist, Clark Strategic Partners; Corecipient of the Nobel Peace Prize “America’s energy policy cannot simply be cheap energy. Mark Stansberry tells us how to break out and assume an energy-secure and dynamic future economy.” —Frank Keating, Governor of Oklahoma, 1995-2003; President, American Bankers Association

The Reality Of American Energy written by Ryan M. Yonk and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-07 with Political Science categories.

This book dispels common myths about electricity and electricity policy and reveals how government policies manipulate energy markets, create hidden costs, and may inflict a net harm on the American people and the environment. Climate change, energy generation and use, and environmental degradation are among the most salient—and controversial—political issues today. Our country's energy future will be determined by the policymakers who enact laws that favor certain kinds of energy production while discouraging others as much as by the energy-production companies or the scientists working to reduce the environmental impact of all energy production. The Reality of American Energy: The Hidden Costs of Electricity provides rare insights into the politics and economics surrounding electricity in the United States. It identifies the economic, physical, and environmental implications of distorting energy markets to limit the use of fossil fuels while increasing renewable energy production and explains how these unseen effects of favoring renewable energy may be counterproductive to the economic interests of American citizens and to the protection of the environment. The first two chapters of the book introduce the subject of electricity policy in the United States and to enable readers to understand why policymakers do what they do. The remainder of the book examines the realities of the major electricity sources in the United States: coal, natural gas, nuclear, hydrodynamic, wind, biomass, solar, and geothermal. Each of these types of energy sources is analyzed in a dedicated chapter that explains how the electricity source works and identifies how politics and public policy shape the economic and environmental impacts associated with them.

Energy And Us written by Glenn A. Gibson and has been published by CreateSpace this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-04-01 with Science categories.

Energy and Us opens with an overview of energy and is followed with a detailed analysis of the production, consumption, uses, reserves, costs, advantages, and disadvantages of petroleum, natural gas, coal, and uranium, which are nonrenewable fuels. A similar evaluation covers biomass, geothermal, tidal, solar, water, and wind, which are renewable sources of energy. The readers then learn about electricity, its uses, and how it is generated. The Energy Information Administration in the Department of Energy divides our energy usage into residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation sectors, and Glenn Gibson examines these before discussing the pollution associated with energy, global warming, and the environment in general. Finally, he presents an historic review of energy policy. While not overly technical, this book does require some knowledge of elementary chemistry to fully appreciate the data, and so the history and science of energy is provided in an appendix for those who would like a refresher course. A summary of the units of measure and the conversion between them is also included, along with a list of acronyms and their meanings. Although the author offers possible solutions to problems, these solutions are primarily based on data obtained from the Energy Information Administration and Bureau of Transportation Statistics in the Department of Transportation. "It is hoped that readers will assimilate the information," says Gibson, "and decide for themselves what we should do." He believes it is predominantly our resistance to change, not conservation or the lack of technology that will determine our energy future and our consequent standard of living. It is unquestionable that many of our existing energy sources are limited, and this illuminating and fact-filled book is sure to increase awareness of how we use energy to maintain our current living standards, and why we need to change the way we actually acquire that energy as soon as possible.
