We believe that responsibly sourced wood is a key driver of change for climate mitigation. In 2012 we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would come from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today more than 98% of the wood used in our products is FSC certified or recycled.

The sourcing of approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from approximately 50 countries has a significant impact on the world’s forests and timber industry and has a major responsibility to positively influence the -way to buy wood. Responsible timber procurement and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, businesses can operate sustainably, forest ecosystems are protected and the biodiversity is enhanced.

Above, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We do not allow any wood in our supply chain from illegal or high conservation value forest areas or forest areas with social conflict. Before starting work, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet the critical requirements for wood sources. All suppliers are required to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are regularly audited and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement corrective action immediately. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that by 2020 we have reached our most sustainable sourcing target. More than 98% of the wood used in products today is FSC certified or recycled.

As unsustainable agriculture, infrastructure expansion and illegal logging increase pressure on the world’s forests and surrounding ecosystems, it is time to take a more holistic approach for the protection and support of these vital resources for future generations.
